I can match pitch perfect singing without background music but when the music starts everything in my voice fails to come out correctly. Background music is distracting me to stay on pitch with the song. I don’t know why it does but people say that music helps correct pitch not distourt it. I’m really confused because I want to be able to sing the way I sing without background music with it. Help me please.

I used to have this problem, but you just have to try as much as possible to ignore them, even plug your ears while rehearsing, that should train your voice to stay on pitch.
hope i could help.
Just practice. If you can stay in tune without music, you can do it with, but you have to practice hearing the difference.
Hearing the music is another good way of knowing whether or not you are in tune, so just do a lot of practicing!
